Zach Haas

A passion for user-driven design & meaningful product innovation

Media Highlights

On this episode of Safe Insight, we traveled to the Ekso Bionics headquarters in San Francisco to see how their revolutionary products are radically changing how we think about safety on the jobsite. Designed and built for construction sites, factories, and manufacturing facilities, their solutions reduce the stress and strain of high-frequency and long-duration activities that take a toll on the body over time. See their upcoming release, the yet to be named “vest” in action for the first time. Strap on your hard hat and let’s dive deep on this ep of Safe Insight.

Ford, Boeing, Toyota and others are equipping workers with wearable devices that enhance strength and endurance.

In this latest Episode of “Leveling Up in Construction with Wm. T. Spaeder” we interviewed Zach Haas, the head of business development at Ekso Bionics, a company that produces exoskeletons for both the healthcare and construction industries. On the construction side of things, the company has two products, the "EksoZeroG" and the "EksoVest." The ZeroG is a mobile arm that attaches to an external platform and offers 30+ pounds of lift assist. The EksoVest focuses on providing support for over-the-head types of work.

"I worked with Zach for 6 years at Milwaukee Electric Tool. He was the main product manager for a new thermal imaging product line. Zach drove multiple successful product launches, product trainings and customer insight research projects. He is highly engaging and driven to gain the most salient customer inputs to drive successful product development. He would be an asset to any team needing strong product mangement with excellent customer focus.”

Jim Curtin - Electrical Engineer & Technical Program Manager

“I worked with Zach throughout Ford's exploration into exoskeleton technology. As the primary stakeholder for Ekso Bionics, Zach worked relentlessly at every stage of the project to exceed our expectations and deliver a best-in-class product. He impressed me with his passion for capturing the true voice of our operators and with his ability to seamlessly incorporate user-centered design principles into each product iteration. As Ford transitioned from trial to adoption, Zach collaborated to negotiate our initial investment in exoskeletons and helped manage the global rollout (even personally leading multiple training sessions around the globe). Zach was a joy to work with. He is hard-working, creative and passionate about developing technology to improve people's lives. He loves what he does and is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure things are done right. Any team would be lucky to have him.”

Marty Smets - Technical Expert Corporate Ergnomics, Ford Motor Co.

“I highly recommend Zach Haas for any role that needs a strong strategic leader in a dynamic or challenging environment. His career is clear evidence of his ability to apply his unique skill sets to rise to extremely challenging opportunities. I have witnessed this as we worked together to start up a new division and help grow a company from $500M to 2B. I have also seen him emerge as a strategic leader in a fast moving robotics company. His past roles and accomplishments make it plain to see his command of a business team and development, what they don't show though are his drive to succeed that motivates any team he is part of and his smooth leadership style that can get the most diverse teams to focus on a single coordinated direction. I recommend Zach for any leadership position as he possesses the skills you need and the skills you can't teach.”

Evans Nguyen, Dir. of Dev. Engineering

“Zach was a tremendous asset to me as my go-to spokesperson on industrial exoskeletons whenever media opportunities arose. A leader for his division at Ekso Bionics, he was a very effective communicator and provided key insights on industry trends to top-tier media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, and a variety of important trade publications.
Zach also has a strong marketing background and respects the urgency of media requests, and always made himself available, even when on the road for work. We worked closely together during our collaboration with Ford Motor Company during their global rollout of exoskeletons which resulted in media interest around the world that was invaluable in generating awareness for Ekso Bionics. Anyone developing a go-to-market strategy or building a brand would be lucky to have Zach on their team.”
